Certified Deliberate Practitioner (CDP)
The CDP designation is awarded to practitioners who have demonstrated sustained commitment to deliberate slowness in their professional practice and have completed the Foundation's certification program.
Program Overview
The CDP program is not intensive. Intensity is inconsistent with our methodology. The program unfolds over 6 months and consists of readings, reflective practice exercises, a supervised slowness project, and a final portfolio submission.
The supervised slowness project is the core requirement. Candidates select a professional activity they currently perform at speed and practice performing it slowly on purpose for a period of not less than 8 weeks. They document what they notice. The portfolio reflects on what the documentation reveals.
We do not rush candidates through the program. The program takes as long as it takes. Several candidates have taken longer than 6 months. We consider this evidence that the methodology is working.
